Somalia’s Senate Standing Committee reviews legislative agenda for eighth session

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s Senate First Deputy Speaker Ali Shacbaan Ibrahim, accompanied by Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Ali Hirsi (Timacadde), chaired a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee to discuss the work plan of the upper house and its committees for the eighth session.

 

During the meeting, Senate Secretary-General Abdinasir Ibrahim Guled presented an overview of the Senate’s planned activities, pending legislation submitted to the chamber, and draft laws awaiting completion of remaining review procedures.

Members of the Standing Committee held detailed discussions on the agenda, offering recommendations and proposals aimed at improving the Senate’s legislative work and strengthening the effectiveness of its committees during the current session.

Closing the meeting, Deputy Speaker Ali Shacbaan Ibrahim thanked committee members for their contributions and constructive discussions, saying their input would help improve the Senate’s performance and enhance its oversight role.

He also urged members to continue their efforts and strengthen their service to the Somali people and the country.
