BAIDOA, Somalia — The acting leader of SouthWest state, Jibriil Abdirashid Haji Abdi, on Tuesday held talks with federal lawmakers and Baidoa’s mayor to accelerate governance reforms, strengthen security and improve public services in the city, officials said.
The meeting, held at the regional leader’s office, brought together members of Somalia’s federal parliament and Baidoa district commissioner and mayor Abdullahi Ali Watiin. Discussions focused on enhancing local administration, improving service delivery and advancing urban beautification efforts in the strategic regional capital.
Jibriil instructed the district leadership to double efforts aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring the provision of essential services, calling for “tangible progress” in the city’s development, according to a statement released after the talks.
Lawmakers attending the meeting stressed the importance of close coordination among different levels of government to ensure sustainable development and efficient services for residents.
The meeting forms part of broader efforts by South West authorities to reinforce administration and promote development in key urban centers across the regional state.
