Southwest State executes soldiers in Baidoa for civilian killing

BAIDOA, Somalia – Authorities in Somalia’s Southwest regional state announced the public execution of three soldiers outside Baidoa city on Saturday morning.

 

The execution by firing squad was carried out after a  military court sentenced Hussein Ali [ Southwest State Darwish force], Abdiwahid Ali [Somali military], and Abdullahi Ibrahim [Southwest State police] to death, according to the officials.

Hussein and Abdiwahid killed a civilian in Baidoa on 18 June 2018 while Abdullahi murdered 3rd June 2023 a pharmacist who was preparing for a marriage.

Somalia sentences Al-Shabaab members and soldiers to death and various prison terms.

Human rights organizations have accused the government of giving poor and baised justice to the accused, and there are many individuals who were killed or jailed without a crime.
