Somali Government Releases Comprehensive Weekly Report on Political, Diplomatic, and Security Developments

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The government of Somalia has issued a detailed weekly report on the current situation in the country, mainly focused on politics, diplomacy, and security.

 

1-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud officially unveiled the National Transformation Plan for 2025-2029 in Mogadishu, pointing out that Somalia has set foot on the path of development.

2-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received the Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations in charge of politics, Rosemary DiCarlo, at Villa Somalia, discussing the progress made by Somalia and the role of the United Nations in supporting Somalia.

3-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud laid the foundation stone for the construction of the modern neighborhood of Pearl Beach, which is being implemented by Somali businessmen in Mogadishu.

4-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the President of Eritrea Isaias Afwerk, and the President of Egypt held a tri-partite meeting to strengthen the cooperation of the three countries in Asmara, Eritrea.

5-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud inspected the training camp of the Somali Air Force in Asmara.

6-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud congratulated the Somali people on the 12th of October marked as the Somali Flag Day.

7-The Prime Minister, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, opened the 7th Conference of the National Economic Policy Forum focused on the development of policies to strengthen the country’s economic growth.

8-The meeting of the National Consultative Council will be held again on the 26th of October.

9-Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the Sports Village at Mogadishu Stadium.

10-Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre has appointed Mrs. Fawsiya Bashir Mohamed as the Senior Adviser on International Cooperation and Development in the Prime Minister’s Office.

11-Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre received the Acting Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for Somalia, James Swan.

12-Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre has sent his congratulations to all the Somali people on the occasion of the Somalia Flag Day on 12 October.

13-Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre unveiled three roads that have been implemented in the capital, saying that the construction of roads plays a major role in the movement of people, traffic, aesthetics, security and economy.

14-The Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama received Marina Walter who is the Deputy Regional Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

15-The 2nd Deputy Chairman of the People’s Assembly, Mr. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, attended the opening of the 149th session of the IPU World Parliamentary Conference in Geneva.

16-The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, had a meeting with the Swedish Ambassador to Somalia, Joachim Waern, where they discussed the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

17-The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, had a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Wang Yu, where they discussed strengthening, relations and cooperation between the two countries.

18-The Somali government is offering scholarships to Sudanese refugees living in Somalia.

19-The Minister of Agriculture Mr. Mohamed Abdi Hayir has launched the Rural Life Resilience Program organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation in Somalia.

20-The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ahmed Macallin Fiqi had a meeting with Mr. Ammar Ahmed Babiker, Acting Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Somalia.

21-The Minister of health of Somalia and the Chairman of the 70TH Confrenece of the world Health Organization WHO DR.Ali Haji Adam Opened the 71st meeting (RC71) in Doha Which Discussed the Development of global health.

22-The Minister of Education, Mr. Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, who visited Norway, had a meeting with the State Minister of International Development of Norway, Mrs. Bjork Sandkjaer.

23-The Somali Civil Aviation Authority has announced in a statement that drones are prohibited from being used in the vicinity of Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu.

24-The Public Service Development Committee of the People’s Assembly held a meeting with the Union of Universities in the country, discussing the National Higher Education Bill, which the committee is preparing for its second reading report.

25-The Minister of Awqaf & Religious Affairs, Mr. Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali, has closed a training to enhance the working capacity of the employees for some of the employees of the ministry.

26-The United Nations Human Rights Council has officially approved a resolution jointly submitted by Somalia and the UK, which focuses on helping Somalia in the field of human rights.

27-A statement from the Ministry of Ports and Transport banned the importation of the plastic bags.

28-The Commander of the Land Forces of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Dayah Abdi Abdulle, met with the National Army officers in Waniile area of Galgaduud region who are in charge of the operations of clearing the Kharijites from Galmudug and Hirshabelle areas.

29-Commander of the Somali Police Force Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi received the Head of the European Union Mission in Somalia Kestis Lancinskas.

30-The October 14 Brigade of the National Army captured two leaders of the Khawarij who were operating in Janale and Shalambod areas in the Lower Shabelle region.
