ADDIS ABABA – Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abdisaalam Abdi Ali held bilateral talks with Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council in Addis Ababa.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the neighboring countries, with the two ministers discussing recent progress on migration issues and measures to facilitate the movement of citizens across their shared border.
The ministers agreed to enhance cooperation and coordination on consular affairs to improve services for their citizens and further ease travel and people-to-people exchanges.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the strategic partnership between Somalia and Kenya, particularly in the areas of peace, security and regional stability in the Horn of Africa.
The talks formed part of a series of bilateral meetings being held by Somali officials on the margins of the African Union Executive Council session, where ministers are discussing deeper continental cooperation and the implementation of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 development framework.
