Dhuusamareeb, Somalia — Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre arrived on Monday in Dhuusamareeb, the capital of the central state of Galmudug, where he was given a warm welcome by regional leaders and residents.
Barre was received at the airport by Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye, the state’s vice president, members of the regional cabinet, security officials and representatives from various segments of the local community.
During his visit, the prime minister is expected to take part in the Heritage Institute’s annual National Consultative Forum, which this year focuses on politics, security and the rebuilding of Somalia’s state institutions, according to officials. The forum aims to strengthen national dialogue and advance the country’s state-building process.
Barre is also scheduled to hold separate meetings with Galmudug’s leadership and members of civil society, where he will listen to their views and recommendations on promoting peace, development and national unity.
The talks are expected to play a key role in boosting cooperation between Somalia’s federal government and its member states, officials said.
