Jowhar, January 22, 2026 – Somali National Army (SNA) Danab troops and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), particularly its Fifth Battalion, carried out a joint security operation on Wednesday along the main road linking Jowhar Airport to the town of Jowhar.
Led by Colonel Désiré Ndihokubwayo, the operation targeted Al-Shabaab networks, secured key supply routes, and ensured the safety of civilians and commercial goods.
Forces focused on detecting and neutralizing explosive threats, conducting searches to remove devices posing risks to the community.
AUSSOM and Danab officials stressed their commitment to working closely with Somali Security Forces (SSF) to strengthen stability, security, and public safety in the region.
