BAIDOA [SMN] – Fighting between Al-Shabaab and southwest forces in collaboration with Somali government forces broke out today in the Deynunay area of ​​the Bay region.

The heavy fighting came after Al-Shabaab fighters attacked a base there, followed by direct fighting.

Local sources said at various weapons were used during the fighting, causing heavy casualties.

Al-Shabaab claimed to have taken control of Deynune, a town in the southwestern city of Baidoa, after the fighting.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

The situation is now tense, and military activity is still being felt on the outskirts of Baidoa, the capital of Bay region.
