Al Shabab Gunmen storm SYL hotel near Somali Palace

MOGADISHU, Somalia  – Heavily armed Al-Shabaab fighters stormed an upscale hotel in Mogadishu, Somali capital on Thursday night.

 

The witnesses reported the attack started with a car bomb explosion at the gate and then gunmen made their way into the building.

The hotel is frequented by members of Somali Parliament, ministers, officials in the government and elite people due to its proximity to Villa Somalia.

The details from the hotel attack indicate that the gunmen are fighting inside the compound and shooting at everyone.

Initial reports say police officer and a journalist were wounded in the ongoing Al-Shabaab attack on SYL hotel.
