BERLIN — Germany has officially recognized Somalia’s diplomatic passport for entry and residency, a decision announced in the Federal Gazette on December 1, 2025, Somali authorities said Tuesday.
The move allows holders of Somali diplomatic passports to enter Germany and reside in the country under standard diplomatic protocols.
Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the development, describing it as “a sign of growing trust and deepening diplomatic engagement” between the two countries.
Officials highlighted the recognition as part of Somalia’s broader efforts to modernize travel documents and strengthen international partnerships, signaling progress in the Horn of Africa nation’s global diplomatic outreach.
The decision is expected to facilitate smoother travel and official cooperation for Somali diplomats in Germany, further consolidating bilateral relations.
