Mogadishu court sentences a man to death for killing his pregnant wife

MOGADISHU, Somalia – A court in the Somali capital, Mogadishu announced a death sentence against Sayid Ali Moallin Daoud who burned his wife to death in January this year.

 

The body of Luul Abdiaziz has been kept in a refrigerator in the hospital because her family refuses to bury her until justice is delivered.

The televised session is being attended by both sides’ relatives, members of the public, lawyers, and prosecutors as well the the independent media outlets in Mogadishu.

Luul, a 28-year-old pregnant lady and airport worker, has succumbed to her critical injuries sustained after her husband set her on fire in her room on 26th January.

She was a widow and mother of six orphaned children, before marrying her second husband whom she met at the Mogadishu airport, where both worked.

The family of Luul welcomed the court verdict and said they would bury their daughter.
