MOGADISHU, Somalia – Today, the Commissioner of SoDMA, Mohamud Moalim actively took part in the launch of Somalia 2024 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan HNRP held in Mogadishu.

This event aimed to address the region’s critical needs and provide a better, more effective response plan for the future.

The 2024 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) released by the @uninsomalia, partners, and Federal and State Governments seeks US$1.6 billion to assist 5.2 million people who need life-saving humanitarian and protection assistance in #Somalia.

During his address, the Commissioner highlighted Somalia’s advancements in political institutions and security. Nevertheless, the country has been grappling with the impact of climate-related hazards, which have resulted in severe droughts and floods.

As a consequence, a significant number of people have had to relocate to urban areas.

The Commissioner also said, “Over 80% of the displaced are women and children who face serious protection risks. We must help and improve their lives, making them more resilient. Working with local organizations to reach out to the most vulnerable is crucial. They are the first to respond in disasters, and supporting them is necessary”.

The Commissioner appealed to all FGS allies for help providing necessary resources to save lives.
