MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Armed Forces Court of Somalia announced it handed down different sentences to two Somali police officers, including one blamed for murder.

The court said Abdullahi Abdi Mustaf killed a police officer Abdikarin Ibrahim Ali (Awdango) while the police officer Dahir Abdi Mustaf was arrested for aiding him in the crime.

The court sentenced Mustaf to death for killing the policeman on February 22, 2023, while Dahir Abdi Mustaf was sentenced to five years in military prison, according to the verdict.

After that, the lawyers of the defendants appealed to the Supreme Court of the Army, which heard the case again on November 1, 2023, and finally agreed today with the death sentence that was previously sentenced by the Court of First Instance of the Military court.

Abdullahi Abdi Mustaf will face the firing squad as his colleague Dahir Abdi Mustaf was sentenced again to four years in prison, as announced by General Liban Ali Yarow, the Chairman of the Supreme Military Court.
