DHUSAMAREB, Somalia – The Speakers of the two Houses of the national assembly Sheikh Adan Madobe and Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, along with MPs arrived in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug State on Thursday.

The delegation was welcomed at the airport in Dhusamareb by the Vice President of the Galmudug state, Ali Dahir Eid, members of the parliament, and the community leaders.

The two speakers joined the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who has been in Dhusamareb for almost two months for war on Al-Shabaab.

The trip comes as SNA along with clan fighters take over Amara and other nearby areas, including Ba’adweyne from Al-Shabaab this week, in the latest gains against the militants.

Somalia has been at war with Al-Qaeda’s most powerful group in East Africa for over 16 years with the support of AU troops and the U.S. military which provides air raids and trains Danab, the SNA’s elite force.

Despite ground losses, Al-Shabaab continues to execute deadly attacks on base and Mogadishu as part of its insurgency aimed at ousting the UN-backed Somali government.

The Somali-led offensive bears fruit as SNA makes significant progress on the frontlines, thanks to President Hassan Sheikh who left no stone unturned to lead the selfless mission.
