Somali parliament speaker meets with his Saudi counterpart

RIYADH [SMN] – The speaker of the Lower House Chamber of the Somali Federal Parliament Sheikh Aden Madobe is paying an official visit to Saudi Arabia.

 

The speaker held talks with Sheikh Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, the chairman of the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia known as Shura Council in Riyadh. According to a statement issued by Madobe’s office, the two sides discusses key issues, mainly the cooperation between the two parliaments and upgrading the historical relations.

”During the discussion session, they stressed the importance of cooperation on various issues of common concern between the two Houses, in addition to strengthening parliamentary cooperation to serve the common interests of the two countries,” said the Shura Council.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, Dr. Mishaal Al-Salami, and His Excellency the Assistant Chairman of the Council, Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmadi, and His Excellency the Secretary-General, Mr. Mohammed Al-Mutairi.

Sheikh Aden Madobe expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Abdullah for the warm reception, stressing the Somali Parliament’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with the Shura Council, appreciating the Kingdom’s humanitarian efforts for Somalia through the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief.
