DOHA — Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Doha on Friday to attend the Doha Forum, a high-level gathering focused on global security, politics and development cooperation, his office said.

Mohamud was received at Hamad International Airport by senior Qatari government officials. The visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between Somalia and Qatar, which has been a key political and development partner for Mogadishu.

During his stay, the Somali leader is expected to hold talks with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, as well as other senior officials.

Discussions will centre on regional security, political developments and ways to deepen economic and development cooperation between the two countries.

Somalia’s participation in the Doha Forum, which draws international leaders, policymakers and experts, offers an opportunity to bolster the country’s diplomatic profile and engage in wider global discussions on peace, security and the future of the Horn of Africa, the presidency said.
