DHUSAMAREB, Somalia — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and a delegation he is leading arrived Friday in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug state, where they were warmly received by Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Karie and other federal and regional officials, as well as members of the local community.
The visit is focused on strengthening the federal government’s efforts to build and improve Somalia’s armed forces. Hassan Sheikh is expected to attend a ceremony marking the completion of training for units of the Somali National Army.
During his stay in Galmudug, the president will also inaugurate development projects completed across the state as part of efforts to improve public services and strengthen economic and social infrastructure.
Hassan Sheikh is also scheduled to meet with various sections of the Galmudug community to hear their views, concerns and recommendations on development, security, state-building and the country’s future.
