CAIRO — Somalia’s Auditor General, Ahmed Issa Gutale, has participated in the inaugural conference of the Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions of Arabic-Speaking African Countries (AFROSAI-A), held in the Egyptian capital Cairo.
Gutale addressed the gathering, which brought together representatives of the organisation’s nine member states to establish a framework for professional cooperation among their supreme audit institutions.
During the conference, Somalia’s Office of the Auditor General was elected as AFROSAI-A’s Alternate External Auditor for the 2026–2029 term, while Algeria’s Auditor General was chosen as the organisation’s External Auditor.
Gutale thanked AFROSAI-A member states for the confidence placed in Somalia’s Office of the Auditor General.
He also stressed the importance of moving the organisation beyond its founding phase towards effective operations and implementation, saying greater professional cooperation among member institutions would be crucial to achieving its objectives.
