MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia on Saturday strongly condemned missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwait, expressing full solidarity with the Gulf state and reaffirming its support for Kuwait’s sovereignty and security.
In a statement, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said the Horn of Africa nation stood firmly behind the government and people of Kuwait, stressing its unwavering support for the country’s independence, stability, territorial integrity and national unity.
The ministry described the attacks as a threat to regional peace and security, saying such actions violate the principles of international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter.
“Somalia reaffirms its solidarity with the State of Kuwait during this difficult time,” the statement said, calling for greater diplomatic engagement, restraint and dialogue to prevent further escalation.
Mogadishu also urged all parties to prioritize peaceful solutions and diplomatic channels in addressing disputes, warning that rising tensions could undermine stability across the Gulf region.
Somalia and Kuwait have maintained close diplomatic ties for decades, with Kuwait providing development assistance and humanitarian support to Somalia through various initiatives.
The statement did not specify who was responsible for the reported attacks, while Kuwaiti authorities had not immediately released additional details on the incidents.
