Somalia faces a worsening flood crisis amid warning of El Niño threat

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama, today visited the headquarters of the Somali National Disaster Management Agency, SODMA.

 

He was welcomed by the Deputy Chairman of the National Disaster Management Agency, Ahmed Abdi Adan, and held a meeting on the current flood disaster situation in Somalia.

The Deputy Prime Minister announced a state of emergency to help the Somali people who suffered from the floods and floods caused by the heavy rains that are falling in most regions of the country.

“I am sharing with the Somali community the impact of the floods and heavy rains that are falling in the regions of the country. According to the information we have, the death toll is about 10 people,” said Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama.

He also pointed out that the Federal Government is making efforts to provide aid to the people affected by the floods and rains.

Finally, the Deputy Prime Minister called on the Somali people, especially the businessmen, to show support and support to the Somali people who have suffered from the floods and floods in emergency situations.
