WASHINGTON – The Director General of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency, Mahad Mohamed Salad, held a series of meetings in recent days in Washington, D.C. with senior officials from the Central Intelligence Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to Somali officials.

The discussions focused on strengthening intelligence-sharing, counterterrorism efforts, and enhancing longstanding ties between Somalia and the United States.

During the visit, Salad also toured Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he met Colonel Benander, commander of U.S. special operations forces who previously served in Somalia.

Salad thanked Washington for its continued support, particularly in security and counterterrorism cooperation. He said the partnership had contributed to “tangible gains,” including recent operations targeting senior leaders of Al-Shabaab.
