BAIDOA, Somalia — Somalia’s National Independent Human Rights Commission has called for justice for Ikhlaas, a five-year-old girl who was killed in Baidoa, the capital of Bay region.
The commission said the circumstances surrounding Ikhlaas’s death must be fully investigated and that anyone found to have been involved should be held accountable through the justice system.
It also called for the girl’s family to receive justice and accountability, stressing the importance of protecting children’s rights and preventing similar crimes.
The commission urged relevant authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into the case to establish the facts surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
Ikhlaas’s death has caused concern among residents in Baidoa, with the commission’s appeal coming amid renewed calls for stronger protection of children and greater accountability for those responsible for crimes against them.
