Somalia: Southwest State executes two men for killing

BAIDOA [SMN] – The Somali military court on Thursday morning executed two men accused of committing murders in Baidoa.

 

Adam Ali Abdi who killed the late Moalim Dahir Abdullahi Mukhtar and Mohamed Geedow Nurow who also killed Jamal Abdikarin Maadey faced the firing squad outside the city.

Officials and officials from the Southwest state and the relatives of the victims were present in the square where the execution was taking place.

Most of the executions in Somalia are through shooting, but Sharia courts run by Al-Shabaab, the Al-Qaeda affiliate also use beheading and stoning in its stronghold areas.

Human Rights Watch noted that summary executions were on the rise in the nation with this year alone, dozens of people were killed in Mogadishu and other regional states.
