Somalia, US discuss deepening security and diplomatic cooperation

MOGADISHU — Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali held talks in Mogadishu with Justin Davis, the United States chargé d’affaires, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and strategic cooperation.

 

The meeting centered on strengthening cooperation in security, political engagement and diplomatic coordination aimed at supporting peace and stability in Somalia, according to officials.

Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained partnership between Somalia and the United States, particularly in countering security threats and advancing state-building efforts.

The Somali government regards the United States as a key strategic ally, citing its continued support in humanitarian assistance and security as critical to stabilisation efforts and the development of national institutions.

The discussions come amid ongoing efforts by Mogadishu to reinforce international partnerships as it confronts persistent security challenges.
