Baidoa, Somalia, July 22 – Somalia’s Minister of Internal Security, Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), held a security briefing on Monday with police commanders in South West State to assess the security situation in the region.

During the meeting in Baidoa, regional police officials presented updates on key issues, including the general security landscape across the state, ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab militants, protection of critical infrastructure, and community awareness campaigns aimed at preventing crime.

Minister Fartaag praised the police for their efforts in maintaining public safety and stability. He emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the federal government and federal member states to ensure lasting peace throughout the country.

The minister also pledged to strengthen federal support for security forces, including additional equipment, training, and incentives, to enhance their operational effectiveness.

The visit comes amid a wider federal push to stabilize regions recently liberated from Al-Shabaab and improve coordination between national and local security institutions.
