NEW YORK, United States — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has attended the opening of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York, as world leaders gather for the annual high-level meeting.
Hassan is expected to address the General Assembly, where he will outline Somalia’s progress in state-building, democratisation, security, economic development and the expansion of public services.

The Somali president’s participation comes as his government seeks to deepen international engagement and highlight developments in the country, including efforts to strengthen state institutions and advance political and economic reforms.
