MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s federal government has denied involvement in an attack on a house in the Gedo region town of Dollow where former Somali prison service commander General Mahad Abdirahman Adan, also known as General Mahad Shub, was staying.
The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism said in a statement that the government was closely monitoring the incident and had no role in the attack.
Preliminary information from security agencies indicated that explosives had been deployed by aircraft to strike the residence, the ministry said, without identifying those responsible or providing further details about the operation.
“The government categorically confirms that it had no involvement in the incident,” the statement said.
The government said the incident required a thorough investigation and that security agencies were working to establish what happened and identify those responsible.
It urged the public and media not to circulate unverified reports, saying the findings of the investigation would be made public once it was completed.
The statement also described Dollow as strategically important to security and movement in the Gedo region, and said the government was prioritising stability and civilian safety in the district.
The government’s denial comes after Jubaland authorities strongly condemned the attack and accused Turkish aircraft of carrying out the strike on General Mahad Shub’s residence.
The federal government, however, reiterated that it had no involvement and said an official investigation was still underway.
