MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s House of the People has concluded the second-reading debate on proposed amendments to the Central Bank Law and judicial cooperation agreements between Somalia and Turkey, parliament said.

The session, part of the eighth parliamentary session’s 22nd sitting, was chaired by House Speaker Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama and opened with a quorum of 141 lawmakers.

Lawmakers continued deliberations on amendments to Central Bank Law No. 130, enacted on April 22, 2012, which was prepared by the Ministry of Finance. They discussed the provisions of the proposed legislation and its importance to the country.

The House also conducted the second reading of agreements between Somalia and Turkey on international judicial cooperation, with lawmakers debating their significance for Somalia.

Closing the session, Jama said the central bank bill amendments and the judicial cooperation agreements had completed the second-reading stage.
