MOGADISHU — Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Salah Ahmed Jama, met with residents of Mogadishu on Friday evening, urging them to collect their voting cards to participate in the upcoming local council election scheduled for December 25.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Abdirahman Yusuf (Al-Cadaala), and other government officials.

Jama emphasized that the voting card is essential for citizens to exercise their right to vote and encouraged everyone eligible to ensure they have their card in time.

He also stressed that participation in the election is a civic duty and an opportunity for Somalis to express their political choices and influence the country’s leadership.

Officials attending the event warned against spreading false information or disrupting the electoral process and urged citizens to follow official government procedures.

The outreach is part of the federal government’s broader efforts to raise awareness about the election and ensure peaceful participation in Somalia’s democratic process.
