GALCAD (SMN) – The Turkish-trained Gorgor soldiers attack Al-Shabaab hideouts on the outskirts of the newly liberated Gal’ad in Galgadud region, authorities said.
During the planned operation, the elite forces regained control of El-Haji and El-Dhigtar from Al-Shabaab as confirmed by the commander of the 7th division of the army.
Mahdi Iman, the commander said Gorgor troops unearthed landmines and defused them on the spot, averting a bomb attack aimed at targeting the military personnel in the operation.
He added that Gorgor along with local clan militia will continue the crackdown on the militants, who suffered defeats in recent military operation conducted in Galmudug.
The situation was tense due to the military movement in the small villages around Gal’ad town, which are under Al-Shabaab control with presence of hundreds of fighters.
