MOGADISHU, July 13, 2025 – Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) conducted a targeted operation against Al-Shabaab militants in the village of Buulo-Xoog near Buq-Aqable in the Hiiraan region late Friday night, killing seven insurgents and destroying two trucks loaded with weapons.
The agency, having closely monitored the movement of the vehicles and fighters, launched the strike after confirming credible intelligence on the militants’ location.
The operation took place as the convoy was returning from the Shaw area of Hiiraan toward Buq-Aqable.
The raid successfully neutralized the militants, seized weapons, and destroyed the vehicles at the site.
NISA also recorded video footage of the operation, which officials said will be released soon to the Somali public to showcase the significant blow dealt to Al-Shabaab.
