MOGADISHU – Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Salah Ahmed Jama conducted an unannounced inspection of several federal ministries and public institutions in Mogadishu, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen government accountability and service delivery.

The Deputy Prime Minister visited the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Livestock, the Ministry of Petroleum, and the Civil Service Commission, where he held meetings with ministers and senior officials.

According to a statement from his office, Jama was briefed on staff attendance, ongoing programmes, and the challenges facing each institution.

He emphasized the importance of regular oversight and ensuring that government institutions remain focused on serving the Somali people effectively.

“Maintaining consistent supervision is critical to ensuring transparency, efficiency, and delivery of services,” Jama said during the visit.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs showcased current job creation initiatives, with a focus on expanding employment opportunities for Somali youth — a demographic facing widespread unemployment.

The inspections are part of a broader initiative by the federal government to enhance institutional performance and enforce accountability across public service sectors.
