KISMAYO, Somalia — Jubbaland’s Council of Ministers has approved a budget of $60.9 million for 2027, with the regional administration reporting a 2.42% increase in domestic revenue.
The budget totals $60,886,783.86, according to a report from the Jubbaland Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
The Council of Ministers approved the budget during a meeting chaired by Mohamed Yusuf Omar, Jubbaland’s minister of endowments and religious affairs, where officials reviewed the proposed spending plan and the administration’s revenue performance.
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development presented an overview of the region’s financial situation, including the increase in domestic revenue, which it said had risen by 2.42%.
The approved budget is intended to guide the administration’s financial planning and determine priorities for government activities during the coming year.
It will also serve as a framework for managing public revenue, organising government expenditure and implementing development programmes identified as priorities for communities in Jubbaland.
The administration has not provided a detailed breakdown of the approved budget in the information released about the decision, including allocations for individual ministries, security, public services or development projects.
Jubbaland is one of Somalia’s federal member states, with Kismayo serving as its administrative capital. Its finances depend on domestic revenue and other sources of funding used to support government operations and public programmes.
The approval of the 2027 budget sets out the administration’s financial framework for the next year, although the extent to which planned programmes will be implemented will depend on available resources and expenditure management.
