MOGADISHU — Somalia’s foreign minister on Wednesday received copies of the credentials of five newly appointed ambassadors, marking a fresh round of diplomatic engagements as the country seeks to bolster international ties.
Abdisalam Abdisalaan Ali, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, accepted the documents from the incoming envoys of Canada, Finland, Norway, Cuba and Spain during a ceremony in Mogadishu, the ministry said.
The minister congratulated the ambassadors on their appointments and welcomed them to the growing diplomatic community operating in Somalia. He underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation across political, economic and security spheres.
Abdisalam urged the new envoys to play an active role in enhancing friendship and collaboration between Somalia and their respective countries, noting that the Somali government and its people “warmly welcome and stand ready to work closely” with them.
The ceremony comes as Somalia continues efforts to expand its diplomatic outreach and attract greater international support for stability and development initiatives.
